Charles George Esperanza
a.k.a C.G.Esperanza
a.k.a. ChalaRanza
Born the second of six cool kids. The South Bronx is where he first opened his eyelids. A land shrouded in bright colored decay, the birthplace of graffiti and the hip-hop DJ! He paints fantasy worlds of elephants, and castles too! Accompanying this wonder is some whimsical truth. Charles has a voice that is seldom heard. A fusion of jazz, distorted guitars, and chirping birds.
Pura Belprè and Coretta Scott King honor award winner, Charles is the Author and Illustrator of "Red, Yellow,Blue and a dash of White too!"(Skypony Press), “Boogie Boogie, Y’all”(Harper Collins) and upcoming “Kicks in the Sky'' (Harper Collins). He is also a Fordham Bedford artist resident at 2323 Walton Avenue in collaboration with ChaShama Space to Connect and teaches art to Concourse House and Fordham Bedford families, youth and seniors.
