Dayanara Savinon
Artist-Apprentice
I am a Bronx-based mother, artist-educator and recent artist-apprentice at Concourse House, Home for Women and Their Children, specializing in crochet, community projects, public art and technical installation. I am also 2022 a Su-Casa artist with Bronx Council for the Arts. Most recently, I created árbol de flor/blossom tree crochet mural (2021) with Concourse House mothers. In my apprenticeship, I support public art installations and programming across Bronx communities including large-scale crochet murals with Serviam Seniors and hands-on workshops. I have been making crochet for 6 years. My art education is an accumulation of local knowledge, community workshops, and mentorship from leading Bronx artists/ designers Charles Esperanza, Naomi Lawrence and Design Advocates. English is my first language and I am fluent in Spanish.
